Employment

Historically, the islands of Trinidad and Tobago have high levels of unemployment. The main industries are oil, gas and sugar cane. It is difficult to find work here as a tourist, and you are most likely to success by focussing your job hunt on the leisure and tourism industry. Work in bars, restaurants and hotels changes according to the seasons, so you may be lucky. Agricultural work, particularly harvesting sugar cane may be available.
