Backpacker Reviews

I stayed at slightly Chilled in December last year and would recommend it to anyone. The Lonely Planet listing said that the place was 'basic' but I found it nothing of the sort. My room (and my friends') were made out really well and were very clean and tastefully decorated. From my balcony I could take in the splendour of Adams Peak, only bettered by the view from the upstairs restaurant. Which leads me nicely on to the food. In the whole time I stayed in Sri Lanka, I never sampled food like at this place (nor anywhere in India for that matter). I would gladly hike the three hours to the summit of Adams Peak again on the promise of a slap up meal at Slightly Chilled! As for that Lonely Planet reviewer, did he actually stay in this hotel?

Tonight I climbed Adams Peak for the third time. It was great, but what made it an even nicer experience than before is, that I found a very nice Guest House, that provided the comfortable and friendly base for our pilgrimage - The Yellow House. The rooms are great, the view is amazing and the friendly owners offer a variety of delicious Sri Lankan and int. food. I can only recommend the place and will sure return, should I climb SriPadana a 4th time.

This guest house was first class. Great location, nice rooms, and very helpful and friendly people. I'd recommend it to anyone thinking of heading this way!

Wow! That place rocks! Of course, I have a weak spot for curry so my judgment was under the influence, but that was the best curry I've ever had in Sri Lanka, better than in the states, than in Thailand, hell, anywhere. Slightly Chilled is a relaxing place to homebase, but I found myself missing it after a few days going around the island, and made a point of coming back for another night before my flight left the next day. Definitely a place to stay in Sri Lanka!

Slightly Chilled has affordable, clean, and spacious rooms with amazing views. It has a good set-up and easy-going owners. I definitely want to visit it again.

When I left Singapore to escape from the hectic/stressful citylife for a short holiday. I was looking for a place with friendly/warm people and the holiday location close to nature. Through recommendation from my friends, I went to stay at Slightly Chilled for 3 nights in Jan 2008. What a great place it was! I came back to Singapore a recharged man. I went up Adam Peak, did white water rafting and will never forget the helpful/cheerful staff at the guest house. I would recommend Slightly Chilled to anyone who wish to relax their soul close to nature.

The food I had when I stayed at this hotel was the nicest I had in my whole time in Sri Lanka, as Chinese I have a very high standard when it comes to food but I can honestly say that the home made cooking at the Yellow House was amazing!

The hotel is situated in a valley with Adams Peak as the backdrop and a small river flowing gently by. The setting is beautiful and sitting in the restaurant eating a fresh fruit breakfast and looking out across the valley is a wonderful experience, and one I would recommend to anyone.

We visited the Slightly Chilled Guest house on our travel trough Sri Lanka. We found it to be a very relaxed and inspiring place. The rooms are sunny (so was our whole experience there) and we felt very welcome.
From the restaurant we had the greatest view and this made the food taste even better.
A place to remember!!

I was lucky enough to stay at Slightly Chilled last year in December. We stayed there for 2 nights and had a great time. The family treated us really well, they helped us to go White water rafting, sorted out our laundry and gave us delicious pack lunches for the trip up to Adams Peak. The food we had there was amazing and the only place i have had better curry was in a top restaurant in Hong Kong. I highly recommend this place and intend to go back next year.
