JAPAN

I was just curious those of you that have experienced Japan before, what do you think is a good amount of money to save for a 2 week trip? or a good amount spent a day for food, entertainment, transportation, shopping etc.

I have never been to Japan, but after the tsunami, I wanted to know more about Japan. From my curiosity I have learned that Japanese are very kind, patient, cool and generous people. I have admired to work with these people but am now 51yrs old and am told that the Japanese government will only allow young men of 30yrs and below. Will anybody tell me more about these strong people? The calamity was big but they took it in a cool manner.

I found this website very helpful. I just came back from a trip to Japan planned by myself with the info and link provided by the backpacking site, and it was very successful.

However, I have one tip for future backpackers. All Youth Hotels (the Japanese insist that we don't say the word hostel) in Japan don't share their kitchen, nor their fridge with backpackers; don't buy any uncooked food when travelling in Japan. All hotel operators provide breakfast and dinner with cost!
